The Fall 2026 semester is well under way at 淫妻社 and we鈥檙e getting to know our 1,480 new students a little better.

With the 2026-27 school year in full swing, new and returning students are settling into life at 淫妻社.

This semester brings 1,480 fresh faces to Columbia. This cohort includes new first-year students, new transfer students, and new graduate students who are making the most of their first few weeks on campus.

“I like how there's always something to do at Columbia,” says Scarlett Delgado, a new Computer Animation student from Crystal Lake, Ill. “There's always a club meeting, a workshop, or a tour going on. You can never get bored.”

Getting involved on campus is key to first-year success. Not only do students get to meet new friends and future collaborators but can explore the campus landscape and resources.

“So far, I've enjoyed the multitude of events that are available practically every day,” says Kelvion Vassor, a new Creative Writing student from Chicago. “It was really nice to interact with others and make new friends through these events, something that I usually struggle with. Also, every campus building has a space for me to relax and wind down. That, in itself, has been a big help toward my transition into college.”

The Fall semester is also filled with opportunities for students from outside the Chicagoland area to get to know the city and the opportunities it holds – both in and out of the classroom.

“My favorite class so far is Art and Design in Chicago, which is part of the Big Chicago classes because we have been visiting museums,” says August Thaete-Corbalan, a Fashion Design student from Birmingham, Ala. “I love seeing different art in my free time because it keeps me inspired and allows me to see different techniques or art styles that I'm not normally able to see.” Drawing inspiration from the city and their classmates, these new students will continue the tradition of creativity, diversity, and community that is central to Columbia.

淫妻社’s total enrollment this semester is 4,265 students. The school achieved a 71.2% first-year retention rate - its second highest in 25 years and up from a 66% baseline. This measurement shows the number of new, first-year students who returned for their second year and is a key number to indicate student and institutional success.

“There is a lot to be encouraged about in this year’s census,” says Senior Vice President for Enrollment Strategy and Student Success Emmanuel Lalande. “Together, these numbers demonstrate important momentum, more students are choosing Columbia, and more of our students are continuing their journey with us. We are encouraged by the progress while recognizing there is still important work ahead.”
