Landing an Emmy nomination is no easy feat. An eligible television program, performer, or production must first be officially submitted to the Television Academy. Once submitted, active academy members who are peers in the same profession review the work and vote to determine the nominees through a rigorous peer-review balloting process.
About the Nominations
Chase Infiniti '22 earned her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Agnes in Hulu’s “The Testaments.” Based on Margaret Atwood's sequel to “The Handmaid's Tale,” the series follows a new generation of women navigating life inside the oppressive Republic of Gilead. Infiniti, who graduated from Columbia with a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance, landed her breakout role in last year’s “One Battle After Another.”
Christian Sprenger '07 received two nominations for Apple TV+'s “Widow's Bay”: Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (Half-Hour) for the episode "Our History" and Outstanding Comedy Series as a producer. The mystery-comedy follows the eccentric residents of a secluded coastal town whose hidden secrets begin to surface. Sprenger, who studied cinematography at Columbia, is already a two-time Emmy winner for his work on FX’s “Atlanta” and has previously earned nominations for Netflix’s “GLOW,” HBO Max’s “Station Eleven,” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” on Amazon Prime.
Tari Segal '03 is also a first-time Emmy nominee. She is nominated in the Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (One Hour) category for the episode "Flamingos" of “Margo's Got Money Troubles” streaming on Apple TV+. The comedy-drama centers on a young single mother who turns to online content creation to support herself and her daughter. Segal previously worked on “American Crime” and “Rock of Ages,” and served as a camera intern on the critically acclaimed film “Sideways.”
Congratulations to Christian, Chase, and Tari for this important recognition of their work!
